Ginger Jar Company is proud to present this series of magnetic miniatures, inspired by traditional ceramics commonly used in Peranakan homes in olden days. This collection spotlights ginger jars and teapots.
You can pick from the calming blue and white, or the eye-poppingly colourful Peranakan porcelain ware. Look closely and you will see carp frolicking among water weeds, ducks in lily ponds, phoenixes and butterflies flitting among blooming peonies and spiralling vines. There is even a landscape with pagodas. And a playful pooch perched atop the lid of a jar. The more you look, the more you will see. It's a truly busy and vibrant world that you will be drawn into!
Each decorative miniature is a detailed piece of art mounted and die cut on high quality magnet, presented on an art card frame and tastefully housed in gift wrapping. You can include a personalised message and send it to someone you love!
My Story
My interest in creating art began as early as I can remember. As a child, I kept a "curation box." In it went scraps of paper with pretty illustrations, old greeting cards and discarded things that would one day be used in some project for my busy hands. I was upcycling even before the word was coined.
I found pleasure in the patterns and colours of flowers and leaves. What could I do with a pencil stuck in my hand all the time? I drew! And soon I was filling my drawings with colour.
As I grew older, I fell in love with the softness and transparency of water colours and the way that brush strokes and colours could bring out the essence of small things - a tiny roadside flower, the twirl of a leaf, a duck’s feather.
In my series of paintings of ceramics, I am also exploring how to create art digitally and I am pleased to present to you the product of my adventure. May these miniature ginger jars and teapots, busy with flora and fauna, bring you as much joy as they have brought to me.
